Pastor Pete's Story

Pastor Pete's Family

The Short Version

Pete married the love of his life, Abby, in May of 2005. They have four amazing children. Peter, Hadley, Tatum, and Ryder all have their own amazing stories. Pete and Abby both love to travel, read, and spend time outdoors with their family and friends. Pete and Abby are foster parents, and Abby devotes many volunteer hours to assisting children and adults who are active in the foster system.
Pastor Pete was born and raised on a ranch in Atascosa County. He and his three younger brothers spent their early childhood working on the ranch with their father, uncle, and three cousins. Pastor Pete's mom was the daughter of a Baptist preacher and has worked in public education for her entire career.
Pete graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1998 and left for college at Texas State. While pursuing a degree in Ag Education, Pete was also working toward becoming a professional pilot. While in college, he received a confusing call from the Lord to devote his life to full time ministry.  He changed his major to Speech Communication with a minor in Religion and graduated in December of 2001.
Pete served in various ministry roles, both paid and volunteer during his college career. Shortly before leaving for seminary, Pete received an unexpected phone call from someone back in Atascosa County who asked him to consider helping start a Cowboy Church.
Cowboy Fellowship of Atascosa County was launched in May of 2003. Pastor Pete continues to serve as the Senior Pastor of this thriving congregation which now exceeds 1,200 people on two campuses. Pete has served on various boards, led mission trips, and helped equip leaders around the world. Pastor Pete and the congregation of Cowboy Fellowship have also helped to plant over 20 churches.
